GST Council meeting adjourned till February 24

The 33rd GST Council meet which was scheduled on 20th February, 2019 got adjourned by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley till Sunday, as some opposition-ruled states demanded that a meeting, where members are physically present, be convened for deciding on such crucial issues.
The Council meeting which was held on 20th February 2019 through video conferencing also decided to extend the time limit for filing summary sales return GSTR-3B for January by two days till February 22. The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that considering the speed at which returns are getting filed, thousands of returns being filed every hour, the suggestion before the GST Council was to extend the time limit by two days for all states; and, for Jammu & Kashmir which is facing disturbance the date be extended till February 28.
Arun Jaitley said that the members were looking to have more discussions on the GST rate proposals for the real estate sector and added that a decision might be taken on the same in the next meeting.
